Lift your Christmas and New Year’s sounds into reverberations bigger than life, because from now until forever, or at least for as long as this plugin remains available, Digital Systemic Emulations is offering “Giant Verb” as a permanently FREE effect plugin.
The one-man show behind Digital Systemic Emulations is a young 19-year-old music producer from France studying for his majors and in the mean time developing plugins, trying to offer “alternatives to expensive industrial-scaled softwares”, which is a noble quest in and of itself.
Advertised as “Designed for infinite spaces”, this unit is designed for, you guessed it: BIG reverbs! And for a free alternative to many paid choices, it does a wonderful job and sounds particularly well on instruments like guitars, plucks and strings, but it can shine on any sound in general.
Its main features:
Total feedback up to 100% (=infinite decay time)
Analog input behavior: pre-warmth factor
Reverb modulation for smooth & discrete chorusing
Direct & intuitive UI, optimized for sound over technical stuff
Ultra-low space (5 Mo), super light CPU use (~0%) so you can use it on live sessions without latency
This plugin works on Windows 7 or higher and macOS 10.7 or higher. Supported formats are VST2 for Windows and AU for Mac. A noted issue though is a UI crash bug in FL Studio 20.1.2 (Win 64-bits). The developer actively updates its plugins, so one can expect a fixed update down the road.
For those plugin junkies who already spent all their money, this “Giant” reverb may be just big enough to fill in the footsteps of some other paid alternatives. So go ahead and try it out!
