WA Production has banded with Computer Music Magazine to share a FREE version of their MultiBender Delay plugin, a creative multi-band delay processor that is said to be pretty cool. Buy this month’s Computer Music Magazine and get MultiBender CM on the side, no questions asked.
MultiBender CM is a limited version of their multi-band delay plugin, though it actually isn’t that limited at all. By using two adjustable cross-over points with tweakable cutoff for high and low bands, three bands are separated with each their own delay processor. Each delay has the usual controls like delay time, feedback, gain but also time-sync in straight, dotted or triple time, so safe to say that interesting results are waiting just around the corner.
Basically, this plugin allows you to have separate delay settings for the low-end, mids and highs, creating unique stuff like for instance ping-pong-esque delays bouncing around the studio when setting different delay times. But there’s an additional drop-down menu for each band, revealing that each band can be separately saturated, detuned, crushed, and neatly designed visual feedback keeps your eye tightly focused on the ball while processing the most outrageous delays.
The main limitations to the full version are PreDelay, separate panning controls, a global dry-wet mix knob, a stereo width knob and input-output level. These controls are visible but greyed out. If you want them in full colour, click the button on the top-right of the plugin that says “Get full version” or head over to their website to pick it up from their shop. But despite these few limitations, MultiBender CM still feels like a fully-fletched multi-band delay unit offering loads of depth and delayed wickedness. So without further delay –definite pun implied– go buy some magazine mentioned along the way!
