AudioThing has announced a significant discount on its product, The Orb. The deal offers a substantial 69% off the original price, reducing it from $49.00 to just $15.00. This offer is available for a limited period, with the deal set to expire on August 9th.

The Orb is a dynamic plugin that allows users to modify sound using a visual interface that represents Vowels. Each sector of the orb corresponds to a Vowel, which can be changed by clicking on the vowel name. The distance from the center of the orb to the dot signifies the amount of Emphasis (resonance) for each formant filter. Additionally, the angle of each sector represents the Drift value, a frequency that will be added or subtracted from each vowel formant.
Key features of The Orb include three Band Pass Filters (ZDF design) and Vowel Sets for Male, Female, Child, and Custom. It also includes three LFOs (destinations: Vowel, Emphasis, and Drift). The plugin is lightweight on CPU and comes with a presets system that includes a randomizer. It is compatible with Windows 7, 8, 10, and OS X 10.7 – macOS 10.15. It requires a 2GHz CPU and 4 GB RAM and supports VST2, VST3, AU, or AAX (64-bit).
Users can further customize the Vowels by clicking on the Edit button in the Vowels section. This opens the Custom Vowels window, where each vowel name and frequency for the three formants can be adjusted. Each custom vowels set will be saved in a preset (or DAW session), allowing users to create and save multiple sets. The default setting mirrors the Male genre settings.
