About Softube Tape
The Softube Tape plugin is an innovative tape emulation tool designed to add cohesion, weight, and a smooth, analog quality to your mixes. Loved by professionals for its precision and colorful sonic character, this plugin offers three different tape machine types for a variety of sonic possibilities.
Type A is based on a classic Swiss high end reel-to-reel machine, celebrated for its precision and linearity, while Type B offers a more colorful, transformer-based machine that adds extra weight and creaminess to the low end. Type C draws inspiration from a distinctly vintage British tape machine.
The Softube Tape plugin is user-friendly, with an Amount knob to easily adjust the intensity of the tape effect. It also comes with presets created by award-winning engineers such as Joe Chiccarelli and Howard Willing. For users wanting to customize their sound further, the Remote Control panel allows control over the tape machine’s speed stability, crosstalk amount, and more.
Despite its dense, complex sound, the Softube Tape plugin is light on CPU. It can be used on individual tracks or on the master bus to simulate the effect of mixing down to a stereo tape machine. The plugin is also compatible with Presonus Studio One, where it can be used in the MixFX slot, providing selectable crosstalk between each individual track and single interface control of all tracks.
