Soundtoys Offers SpaceBender Reverb Plugin Free of Charge
Expiry: May 22nd
Soundtoys has announced a limited-time offer for its experimental reverb plugin, SpaceBlender, which is available free of charge until May 22. Originally priced at $99, this plugin is designed to create unique, imaginary spaces and textures, drawing inspiration from pioneers of ambient music. SpaceBlender is intended to produce massive waves of lush, organic, and evolving spatial effects.
SpaceBlender features a unique algorithmic architecture that allows users to sculpt shape, density, and spectral evolution. The plugin provides the ability to create both absurdly long and short nonlinear spaces, as well as rich, evolving textures. A time knob is included to set reverb length from 100 milliseconds to a full minute, with a Sync mode available for locking the reverb to the track’s tempo.
Users can adjust the color control to achieve darker lo-fi effects or brighter reverbs. The texture control allows for shaping the reverb character from smooth and lush to sparse and swarming. Additionally, a modulation control is available for adding rich, evolving motion to ambient effects. The freeze function enables the creation of evolving, organically degrading ambient loops.
The plugin includes a visualizer that displays the effect’s shape and its interaction with sound. An interactive control allows for real-time morphing between gate, reverse, decay, and bloom reverb shapes. Spectral evolution is also a feature, enabling reverbs to grow darker or brighter over time.
SpaceBlender is compatible with Apple Silicon and VST 3, and it supports various plug-in formats including AAX Native, AAX AudioSuite, VST 2, VST 3, and Audio Units (AU). It supports sample rates ranging from a minimum of 44.1 kHz to a maximum of 192 kHz. The plugin requires Mac OS X 10.12 or later, or Windows 7 or later, and an internet connection is necessary for activation. Supported hosts include Pro Tools, Live, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic, Studio One, Reaper, and Bitwig.
Highlights of SpaceBlender include its interactive control for real-time morphing of reverb shapes, a visualizer for sculpting the reverb envelope, and embedded modulation for rich, evolving ambient effects. The plugin offers an extreme range, from tight non-linear bursts to sprawling meditations.
SpaceBlender draws inspiration from the grainy, retro-futuristic vibe of the Ursa Major Space Station, the dark richness of the Lexicon 224, and the dense choral swarms of the Swarmatron synthesizer. It was created by Ken Bogdanowicz and sound designer Andrew Schlesinger, who bring their experience in designing and tuning effects and reverb algorithms to this innovative plugin.
