Lese Launches Codec v2.0 Free Lo-Fi Plugin for Mac and Windows
Expiry: None
Lese has released Codec v2.0, a free lo-fi plugin compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems. This plugin is designed to simulate sound degradation through internet compression algorithms, offering users a unique tool for audio manipulation.
Codec v2.0 supports various formats depending on the operating system. For Windows users, it is available in VST3 and AAX formats. MacOS users can access it in VST3, AU, and AAX formats, with compatibility for both Intel and ARM architectures.
The plugin features real-time compression and decompression capabilities within digital audio workstations (DAWs). Users can choose between “Voice” and “Music” modes to tailor the sound processing to their specific needs.
Among its key features are noise and crunch controls that allow significant gain adjustments along with the addition of gated noise. The loss system feature simulates a poor internet connection by introducing packet loss and shuffling effects into the audio stream.
Codec v2.0 also includes options for bitrate adjustment and bandwidth selection, providing further customization of the audio output. An interactive tutorial system is integrated into the plugin to assist users in navigating its functionalities.
The interface of Codec v2.0 is fully vectorized and resizable, ensuring adaptability across different screen sizes. Additionally, it includes a colourable gated noise processor and a visualizer that adds a dynamic element to the user experience.
New features introduced in version 2.0 include precise gated noise addition capabilities and packet disorder control for enhanced shuffling effects.
Klaus Scheuermann Launches Free PodcastPlugins Bundle for Win Mac and Linux
Expiry: None
Klaus Scheuermann has introduced a new software bundle named PodcastPlugins, available for free download. This bundle is compatible with multiple operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports various plugin formats such as CLAP, VST, VST3, LV2, and AU.
The PodcastPlugins bundle is released under the GPL-3.0 license and comprises two main components. The first component, PodcastPlugins Track, is designed to be inserted on individual audio tracks of all speakers. It provides functionalities for level adjustment, equalization, and dynamic processing.
The second component is the PodcastPlugins Master. This plugin is intended for insertion on the audio master bus of a digital audio workstation (DAW). It aids in shaping sound and managing overall levels and dynamics.
The digital signal processing (DSP) for these plugins was developed using Faust by Klaus Scheuermann. The plugins themselves were created with DPF by ƒalkTX. Visual elements such as the logo and signet were designed by Peter Schlossnikel. Programming guidance was provided by Robin Gareus, Bart Brouns, Jakob Dübel, Julius Smith, Dario Sanfilippo, along with contributions from the Faust community.
For those interested in building the software from source code on Linux systems, certain technical requirements must be met. These include having a gcc or clang compiler installed alongside Python and GNU make tools. Additionally, development libraries such as OpenGL, X11, Xext, and Xrandr are necessary.
At runtime on Linux systems, an OpenGL2 capable graphics card is required; alternatively, software rendering can be achieved via MESA.
Installation files for PodcastPlugins can be downloaded from the project’s GitHub releases page at:
GitHub releases. For macOS users specifically using Intel or ARM Macs should note that the installer remains unsigned.
The software offers advanced settings including Timbre and Style controls for detailed sound tweaking. Users can also adjust Input Gain and Target Loudness according to their needs.
Thanks for reading. We hope you found some cool and useful new tools!
