Voxengo updates Boogex free guitar amp plugin for Windows and Mac
Expiry: None
Voxengo has updated Boogex, its free guitar amplifier plugin, to version 3.8 for macOS and Windows. The plugin is available in VST3, VST (Windows), AudioUnit (macOS), and AAX formats, 64-bit only.
Boogex offers an amp stage capable of tones ranging from heavy distortion to mild saturation, along with a speaker cabinet impulse response loader that includes a selection of built-in IRs. Processing latency is near zero, supporting real-time guitar use.
The plugin includes an input gate, an Emphasis EQ for high-frequency control, and a reverberation module derived from Voxengo OldSkoolVerb. With the amp stage disabled, Boogex can function as a plain stereo convolution processor; the convolution module runs at zero latency and is designed to be light on CPU. With current amp modes it is not particularly oriented to metal tones, though it can be used as a cabinet IR processor in that context.
Applications include real-time guitar processing, speaker cabinet simulation, stereo convolution processing, and guitar reverb.
Compatibility: 64-bit macOS and Windows hosts supporting VST, VST3, AudioUnit, or AAX, including Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic Pro, REAPER, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Studio One, OBS, Bitwig Studio, Nuendo, WaveLab, Vegas, SoundForge, GarageBand, Cakewalk, Adobe Audition, Samplitude, Digital Performer, Mixcraft, Edius, and others.
Joonas Ylänne releases free Church Bells Decent Sampler instrument for Halloween
Expiry: None
Joonas Ylänne has released Church Bells, a free (pay-what-you-want, €0+) instrument for Decent Sampler, available via Gumroad in time for Halloween.
The source material comes from bell strike recordings made for Puolimatkan chapel after its playback device failed. The original request was for mono files. For this instrument, two separate strikes were layered and hard-panned left and right to create stereo versions.
The library also includes sustained, pad-like tones created using a reverb freeze technique. When transposed higher, these tones can produce a choir-like character.
This library requires the free Decent Sampler and is not a standalone plugin.
- Format: Decent Sampler instrument
- Price: Pay-what-you-want (starting at €0)
- File size: 11.6 MB
- Presets: 3
- Round robins: 2
- OS compatibility: Windows, macOS, Linux (via Decent Sampler)
Availability: Gumroad (product page by Joonas Ylänne). Installation and usage follow Decent Sampler conventions.

Minor Drama updates SendBlender free workflow enhancer for Mac and Windows
Expiry: None
Minor Drama has released SendBlender version 1.1, a free plugin for macOS and Windows designed to blend parallel send effects with loudness-compensated wet/dry control. The tool allows multiple processors to be used in parallel while maintaining consistent output level, and can add a wet/dry mix function to processors that do not provide one. It can be applied beyond compressors, including limiters and clippers.
Version 1.1 introduces input signal level matching. The update supports both automatic and manual workflows, with short-term LUFS indicators to guide manual matching. Automatic matching can be triggered with a single action, or engaged in a latching mode that continuously maintains loudness parity between wet and dry paths while parameters are adjusted.
The plugin offers three crossfade curves to suit different material: Linear for correlated signals such as compression or saturation; Power for mostly uncorrelated signals like short reverbs and delays; and Max for uncorrelated or unrelated signals, including longer reverbs, delays, or crossfades between independent sources.
- Sidechain-based routing for broad DAW compatibility; either the wet or dry path can be fed via the sidechain input.
- Blend amount can be set directly or by entering the desired wet/dry attenuation.
- Bypass routes the dry signal only to the output.
Compatibility:
- Mac: macOS 10.13 or later; Intel or Apple Silicon (native). Formats: 64-bit AU, VST3.
- Windows: Windows 10 or later. Format: 64-bit VST3.
There is no AAX version at this time. According to the developer, the current design relies on sidechain handling that conflicts with Pro Tools’ mono-only sidechains. A Pro Tools–oriented approach is in development, and interested users can volunteer for beta testing.
Initial Audio Releases Free Initial Clipper 2 Plugin for Mac and Windows
Expiry: None
Initial Audio has released Initial Clipper 2, a free soft clipper plugin for macOS and Windows. The update focuses on peak control and harmonic enhancement while providing integrated loudness metering.
The plugin offers four main controls: Input Gain for level staging before clipping, Threshold with a soft knee to set the point at which full saturation occurs, Saturation to shape the clipping curve and harmonics, and Ceiling to manage post-clip output level. An onboard LUFS meter includes Integrated, Short-Term, Momentary, and Loudness Range readings.
Initial Clipper 2 is available in VST3, AU, and AAX formats for compatible macOS and Windows hosts. It targets modern production workflows that require controlled loudness without hard digital clipping.
- Input Gain: Adjusts level prior to the clipping stage.
- Threshold: Determines when full saturation engages; uses a soft knee.
- Saturation: Shapes the clipping curve to influence harmonic content.
- Ceiling: Sets output level after clipping to maintain peak targets.
- LUFS Meter: Displays Integrated, Short-Term, Momentary, and Loudness Range values.
- Formats: VST3, AU, AAX on macOS and Windows.
The developer provides installers for both platforms that handle installation, updates, and uninstallation. Access to downloads requires logging into a user account; new users can create an account to obtain the installers.
