Fracture Sounds has released Blueprint: Brass Ensemble, a free orchestral brass library for Kontakt Player.
The library combines trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba into a single ensemble patch. It includes two articulations—staccato and sustain—with a performance mode that switches between them by playing velocity.
Three microphone positions are provided: Close, Mid, and Far. Users can blend mics to taste or work with a simplified close-to-far mix. The interface is designed for straightforward control over dynamics and tone.
Blueprint: Brass Ensemble runs in the free Kontakt Player (version 8 or later) and supports NKS for integration with Komplete Kontrol hardware. Installation and activation are handled through Native Access 2.

Ocean Swift launches Sample Tester free sampling tool for Kontakt Player

Ocean Swift has released Sample Tester, a free Kontakt Player instrument for quick auditioning and verification of oscillator-style, tonal, and looped samples.
The instrument supports drag-and-drop loading. It can detect a sample’s root note through MIR analysis or accept a manual setting. On-screen MIR readouts display pitch, peak, RMS, and loudness.
Playback can be compared in two modes: Direct From Disk and Time Machine Pro time-stretching. Polyphonic triggering allows users to check tuning and chords in context. A built-in amplitude envelope provides one-click shapes labeled Perc, Bell, Piano, Lead, and Pad.
Sample Tester includes NKS and NKS2 mappings for hands-on control in Komplete Kontrol and MASCHINE. It is compatible with the free Kontakt Player; the full version of Kontakt is not required.

Parallax Audio releases legacy Virtual Sound Stage spatializer as freeware for Windows and Mac

Parallax Audio has released a free legacy build of its Virtual Sound Stage spatializer. Version 2.0.2 is available for Windows and macOS as of October 2025. The plug-in was originally introduced in 2014 to position virtual instruments within simulated acoustic spaces.
Virtual Sound Stage models rooms with position-dependent acoustics and provides a single interface to control multiple instances across a session. The rebuilt legacy version focuses on modern OS and plug-in format compatibility.

According to the developer, the rebuild improves compatibility with current operating systems and adds VST3 support on both platforms, along with native binaries for Apple Silicon.
Direct support is not offered. The developer plans to address major issues and keep the codebase usable but cannot respond to individual requests.
The original commercial version is no longer for sale. No new features are promised for the legacy build.
