Joonas Ylänne releases free cinematic ambient Handpan for Decent Sampler
Expiry: None
Composer and sound designer Joonas Ylänne has released a free handpan instrument for Decent Sampler. The library is distributed as a pay-what-you-want download via Gumroad and is built from a single steel tongue drum hit sourced from Freesound, processed with EQ, and mapped across a wide pitch range.
The instrument was created during work on a theatre production set in Lapland, Finland. Ylänne cites a live handpan performance seen in England as the impetus to seek a virtual option, leading to the Freesound recording by user “jamesrodavidson.”
