Tone Empire offers EDYN Preamp plugin as a free download
Expiry: August 29th
Tone Empire is offering the EDYN Preamp plugin as a free download. EDYN models a discrete transistor preamp topology associated with American consoles from the 1960s and 1970s. It runs on macOS and Windows in VST3, AU, and AAX formats, with native Apple Silicon support.
The plugin centers on a drive stage for saturation and level, complemented by an overdrive mode for heavier distortion. An auto‑gain option compensates for level changes as input drive is increased. Additional utilities include a phase flip, two Z‑impedance models (50 ohms and 200 ohms) intended to suit different microphones, input/output trims, and high‑pass and low‑pass filters.
Ultra‑X mode processes audio at rates up to 192 kHz with oversampling and the developer’s NM2 neural modeling to reduce aliasing. This mode increases CPU load compared with standard operation.
Intended applications include vocals, drums and percussion, guitars and keyboards, bass and synths, live instruments, and mix bus processing.
- Processing: Discrete transistor preamp model; standard and overdrive modes; auto‑gain; phase invert; Z‑impedance (50/200 ohm); input/output trims; HPF/LPF
- Ultra‑X: Oversampled processing up to 192 kHz using NM2 neural technology
- Formats: VST3, AU, AAX (64‑bit)
- Platforms: macOS (Mojave or later), Windows 10 or later; Apple Silicon native
- License: Internet connection required for authorization; up to three activations

- DAW compatibility: Logic, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One
- Minimum specs: Apple Silicon or Intel i5; AMD Athlon 64 or equivalent on Windows; 2 GB RAM; 300 MB disk space
The listing notes a regular price of $59, with the plugin currently available at no cost. Installation and authorization require an internet connection.

Sonniss Offers Historical Weapons Vol 1 SFX Library for Free
Expiry: September 3rd
Sonniss is offering Historical Weapons Vol. 1, a sound effects library of medieval and early modern combat recordings, at no cost. The collection contains 80 stereo files totaling 1.17 GB, captured at 24-bit/192 kHz and tagged with UCS metadata.

The sessions feature two professional swordsmen performing duels with period-accurate weapons, including an 18th-century court/small sword, a Victorian infantry sabre, a High Medieval longsword, and a Renaissance rapier. Additional material covers medieval weaponry such as a battle axe, hand axe, and warhammer.
The library documents weapon-on-weapon exchanges as well as strikes and scrapes on wooden shields, recorded against the shield’s edge, face, and boss. It also includes flesh-impact sounds created using watermelon, and a range of weapon whooshes performed with a wooden stick and a Renaissance rapier. Each file contains multiple takes of the named action.
Recordings were captured using multiple microphone perspectives for layering options: a Sennheiser MKH50 and Røde NTG-3 on flesh impacts; the MKH50 on shield impacts; and MKH50 and Line Audio CM4 stereo pair on sword material.
Content is organized into categories:
- Flesh Impacts: impacts and movements with medieval weapons (MKH50, NTG-3)
- Shield Impacts: strikes and scrapes on different shield areas (MKH50)
- Swords: general swords, longsword, medieval sword, rapier, sabre, small sword; single hits and performed fights (MKH50, CM4)
- Whooshes: light and heavy weapon passes
Intended uses include film, television, video games, and documentary projects involving historical melee combat or action design.
Key specifications: 24-bit depth, 192 kHz sample rate, stereo format, UCS metadata, 80 files, 1.17 GB total size. A streaming preview and a downloadable tracklist are available. The library is provided under a royalty-free license.
Historical Weapons Vol. 1 is listed as sold by 344 SFX. The current price is $0, down from an original $50.
Samplea By Cloudy Samples Now Free Normally Priced At Twenty Dollars
Expiry: September 4th
Cloudy Samples has released Samplea, a minimalist sampler plugin, as a free download for a limited two-week period. The regular price is $20. The plugin is available in 64-bit VST3 and AU formats for Windows and macOS.
Samplea loads a single audio file and turns it into a playable instrument. Note Detect analyzes the file to identify the root key and map it to the keyboard. Dedicated Sample Range and Loop Range editors define playback, while an X-Fade control smooths loop boundaries to reduce clicks during sustained notes. A reference sine tone is included for tuning by ear, and a Glide control provides portamento for monophonic lines.
The plugin includes a full set of shaping and effects tools. A visual ADSR envelope adjusts attack, decay, sustain, and release. A parametric EQ is paired with dedicated low-pass and high-pass filters for frequency shaping. The master section offers volume and stereo width, along with saturation and a bitcrusher for harmonic and lo-fi textures. Time-based effects include a reverb with width control and a tempo-syncable delay. A built-in virtual keyboard supports quick auditioning.
Samplea is designed to be CPU-efficient and includes a resizable interface for different screen sizes. It supports common audio file formats such as WAV and AIFF and works with major DAWs that host VST3 or AU plugins.
Typical uses include:
- Converting one-shot samples into playable instruments with automatic key detection.
- Creating seamless sustained sounds using loop ranges and crossfades.
- Designing monophonic leads and 808-style basses with adjustable glide.
- Chopping drum hits and assembling kits from individual samples.
- Reversing textures or pitch-shifting vocal material for creative effects.
- Shaping transients and tone with ADSR, EQ, filters, saturation, and bitcrush.
- Adding space and movement with reverb and tempo-synced delay.
During the promotion, Samplea is offered at no cost; the standard price is $20. Formats are VST3 and AU, 64-bit only, for Windows and macOS.
ShamROCK Audio makes Fitz Phone plugin permanently free
Expiry: None
ShamROCK Audio has made its Fitz Phone effects plugin permanently free. The plugin applies telephone, megaphone, and AM radio-style filtering and dynamics to any audio source for communications-style processing and sound design.

The interface presents a mode selector with character options, a rotary dial, and dedicated controls for Drive, Tone, Static, Mix, and Output. An ON AIR/BYPASS toggle provides a visual indicator when processing is active.
Processing is based on band-limiting filters with optional pre-filter saturation. The engine runs at 4× oversampling, with group delay reported to the host for accurate delay compensation. Parameters support real-time automation, and the design uses no lookahead.
- Telephone mode: approximately 300 Hz–3.4 kHz band-limit with a midrange emphasis and gentle soft clipping.
- Megaphone mode: narrow, resonant mid band centered around 1.7 kHz with increased drive for a bullhorn-style profile.
- AM Radio mode: a wider band with amplitude-modulation tremolo and adjustable static noise.
- Drive: pre-filter soft saturation; reacts more aggressively in Megaphone mode.
- Tone: brightens the upper spectrum and shifts the resonant mid peak.
- Static: filtered noise to add crackle or hiss, useful for wireless and broadcast textures.
- Mix: wet/dry blend for parallel processing.
- Output: final level trim.
- ON AIR/BYPASS: true bypass switch with an indicator lamp.
Common uses include simulating phone calls, PA systems, and broadcast sources in post-production; designing transitions and breakdowns in music; creating in-world communications for games; and adding layered midrange focus to vocals, drums, or effects in parallel.
- Formats: VST3, AU, AAX
- Platform: macOS Universal
- Processing: 32‑bit float; runs at the host session sample rate
- Latency: 4× oversampling group delay, reported to the host; no lookahead
- License: free; one license usable on up to three machines; transferable
- Updates: free, lifetime
The free license is issued after checkout and delivered by email. No subscription is required.
