Caelum Audio has debuted SUBscription, a free synthesizer released on International Joke Day. Despite the jokey imagery on the main interface, it is quite an interesting instrument to use as well. At the heart of the interface is a very bold ATM console. This actually serves as the oscillator of the instrument. You can input text and get some fairly interesting results in return. The rest of the signal flow is fairly typical of a subtractive synth.

InfernalSynth is a free, open-source, semi-modular software synthesizer and audio effect plugin. It is currently available as a VST3 plugin only, and ships as different binaries for instrument mode and effect mode. In instrument mode, InfernalSynth is a polyphonic synthesizer where the combined output of all voices is routed through a global effect bank. In effect mode, the voice generators are not used, and instead an external audio source is routed through the same global effect bank.

Creativity is key, it can be as simple or as complex as you want – KVR members will vote on the entries and pick the eventual winner using whatever criteria they choose to. Five cash prizes will be awarded to the top entries and a wildcard pick. Prize moneys are sponsored by the community-funded KVR Developer Challenge 2023 donation pool. The KVR Developer Challenge began in 2006 and has occurred every 2-3 years ever since.
