Aurora DSP and This Heavy Earth offer Grim3 Overdrive plugin free no coupon required
Expiry: None
Aurora DSP and This Heavy Earth have released Grim3, a free overdrive plugin available as a direct download with no coupon required. The plugin is designed as a tight, aggressive front-end boost placed before an amplifier or amp simulator.
Grim3 targets modern high-gain workflows, with controls aimed at tightening low end, shaping midrange presence, and balancing clean attack with driven weight. It can operate as a transparent clean boost, a mild tone warmer, or a saturated overdrive to firm up an amp’s input stage.
- Tight: Trims low end before the gain stage to control boom and maintain definition.
- Low and High: EQ shaping to adjust bass and treble content.
- Blend: Mixes the dry signal with the driven signal for parallel overdrive.
- Bite: Adjusts midrange focus for added cut or a flatter response.
- Level: Sets the final output level for hitting subsequent stages as needed.
In practice, the plugin can be used to prepare guitars for high-gain tones, emphasize palm-muted rhythms, or tighten complex riff work prior to an amp or amp sim. The Blend control helps retain pick attack while adding saturation, and Tight reduces flubby lows before distortion occurs. Bite allows targeted midrange emphasis, which can help parts sit more clearly in a dense mix. The plugin can also support bass layers by reinforcing articulation while managing low-frequency buildup.
Grim3 is offered as a free plugin from Aurora DSP and This Heavy Earth, with no coupon required for download.
