SoundRave releases Quanpressor compressor for Mac and Windows as free download
Expiry: August 22nd
SoundRave has released Quanpressor, a compressor plug-in for macOS and Windows. It is available as a free download until 11:59 PM on August 22 as a launch promotion; the regular price is $12.99. Version 1.0.1 is offered in AU and VST3 formats on macOS and VST3 on Windows.

Quanpressor combines four compression behaviors—FET, OPTO, VCA, and Vari-Mu—within a single interface. Mode selection changes attack, release, and detection characteristics, while the control layout remains consistent for fast comparisons during mixing and sound design.
- FET / OPTO / VCA / Vari-Mu modes with distinct timing and compression behavior
- Unified controls: Input, Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Knee, Makeup, Output
- External sidechain input with an explicit EXT SC switch
- High and Low Spectral Preserve controls to shape detector sensitivity
- Auto Level Match and loudness compensation when switching modes
- GR Match to automatically move Threshold toward the previous average gain reduction
- Input and Output meters, gain-reduction meter, transfer-curve display, and scrolling GR history
- Time-constant buttons for the Vari-Mu mode
The plug-in provides visual metering to set thresholds and monitor gain staging. Spectral Preserve and sidechain filtering allow frequency-conscious compression, such as maintaining low-end stability while managing midrange transients or de-essing via an external key source.
Typical applications include fast transient control in FET mode, smooth leveling in OPTO, bus compression in VCA, and program-dependent dynamics in Vari-Mu. The external sidechain enables ducking or track-to-track control signals in a mix.
Quanpressor is currently at version 1.0.1 and includes a 14-day trial on both platforms. The initial release (v1.0.0) was dated August 12, 2026.
Guitar Series Direct SG now free from Sound Props normally 115 dollars
Expiry: August 27th
Guitar Series Direct SG by Sound Props is available as a free download for a limited time. The regular price is $115.
This Kontakt-based virtual instrument is sampled from a double-cutaway, humbucker-equipped electric guitar and recorded as a direct (DI) signal. It offers three pickup positions with adjustable tone and volume controls, providing a clean source for use with external amp simulators and effects.
The library is chromatically sampled with up to six velocity layers to capture dynamic variation. Smooth legato transitions are included for melodic playing.
An articulation set covers palm mutes, harmonics, slides, legato, tapping, and tremolo bar effects. Additional textures include metal slider sustains. A keyswitch/articulation matrix enables custom mapping to different workflows.
The instrument features a 12-string mode for thicker harmonic content. Mechanical performance elements such as release noises, fret buzz, and pick attacks can be adjusted. An FX-morph system blends feedback and harmonic sustains. The developer recommends pairing the instrument with reverb and impulse responses to simulate acoustic spaces.
- Instrument type: DI electric guitar (double-cutaway, dual humbuckers)
- Pickup options: 3-way selector (bridge, middle, neck), tone and volume controls
- Sampling: Chromatic sampling; up to 6 velocity layers
- Articulations: Sustains, legato, palm mutes, harmonics, slides, tapping, tremolo bar
- Additional textures: Metal slider sustains; feedback/harmonic sustain morphing
- Performance detail: Adjustable release noise, fret buzz, pick attack
- Modes: Built-in 12-string mode
- Control: Custom keyswitch/articulation mapping matrix
- Signal path: Direct recording for use with external amp sims and effects
Intended uses include film and media scoring, rock production, and other styles requiring DI electric guitar parts shaped through user-selected processing.
Format and requirements: Kontakt (Full Version 6.7.1 or later). Compatible with macOS and Windows.
FrozenPlain releases free Floe two point zero sampler for its libraries on Mac Windows and Linux
Expiry: None
FrozenPlain has released Floe 2.0, a free and open-source sampler plugin that hosts its sample libraries. The update is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux in CLAP, VST3, and AU formats. It remains backward compatible with existing Floe libraries, and the engine is open for third parties to create libraries with additional programming.
The interface has been reorganized into two main pages—LAYERS and EFFECTS—with a separate PERFORM view intended for playing. The layout provides direct access to layer controls and effects processing, with expanded parameter visibility compared with the previous version.
Filters and EQ are presented with visual, node-based editing. LFOs are also visualized, allowing users to see modulation shapes while adjusting parameters.
Granular synthesis is now available per layer. Any loaded sample can be reinterpreted as grains for time-stretching, smearing, and textural reshaping. This feature works with all existing Floe libraries, enabling pads and evolving textures without additional content.
Each layer includes its own arpeggiator. It is tempo-synced to the host DAW and offers control over rate, note length, step ties, humanization, and other parameters, allowing independent rhythmic motion across layers.
Additional changes in version 2.0 include a randomization strip for incremental or full-variation preset changes; stereo width controls; extra LFO shapes; and a modernized compressor algorithm. Quality-of-life updates add undo/redo, right-click context menus, per-effect bypass, and streamlined browsers. A new .floe-pkg format simplifies installation of libraries.
The entire Floe library catalog has been refreshed to take advantage of the 2.0 feature set. Instruments and presets are now fully tagged to improve searching, particularly when multiple libraries are installed. Libraries have been migrated to the new package format. Visual updates have been applied to Dulcitone and both Music Box Suite instruments.
Existing users can update to Floe 2.0 and refresh their libraries at no charge. Library updates are delivered as new package files and can be installed via the Install Package function within Floe.
New presets have been added to the Music Box Suite Free and community packages, showcasing the granular engine and arpeggiators introduced in this update.
The developer has also indicated that an additional product built on the Floe 2.0 platform is planned.
