Techivation releases free Tilt EQ linear phase plugin for Mac and Windows

Expiry: None

Techivation has released Tilt EQ, a free tilt equalizer plugin for macOS and Windows. It is available in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats, with support for Intel and Apple Silicon processors.

Tilt EQ applies a spectral tilt to rebalance the overall frequency distribution from brighter to darker or vice versa. A Drive control applies harmonic saturation to the portion of the signal reduced by the tilt curve, re-injecting attenuated energy as harmonics.

The plugin centers on a single adjustable tilt band with controls for gain, frequency range, and channel mode, along with filtering, metering, and output gain.

  • Tilt Band Gain: Sets the amount of spectral tilt applied.
  • Tilt Band Drive: Adds harmonic saturation proportional to the energy removed by the tilt curve.
  • Tilt Band Range: Defines the transition region where the curve pivots, affecting position and slope.
  • Tilt Band LR|MS: Switches processing between left-right and mid-side modes.
  • Tilt Band Stereo Balance: Pans the band’s EQ and Drive effect between the stereo channels.
  • Filters: Low Cut attenuates frequencies below the cutoff; High Cut reduces energy above the cutoff.
  • Gain Compensation: Applies a fixed level adjustment derived from EQ settings, independent of the input signal.
  • Drive Quality: Selectable oversampling at 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x.
  • EQ Curve Display: Shows the total spectral adjustment.
  • Output: Controls overall post-processing level.

Use cases include brightening or darkening a full mix or stem via Tilt Band Gain, adding harmonic density on the reduced side with Drive, cleaning low-end rumble with the Low Cut filter, and damping excessive high-frequency content with the High Cut filter. LR|MS mode allows processing in stereo or mid-side, and Stereo Balance can adjust the tilt effect across the image. Gain Compensation helps maintain consistent loudness when comparing settings.

System requirements:

  • Windows: 7 or later, 64-bit VST and VST3, and 64-bit AAX (Pro Tools 11 and up).
  • macOS: 10.11 or later, 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, and AAX; Intel and Apple Silicon supported.

Tilt EQ is available now as a free download.

K two get updates free Chord Dock Lite plugin to version one point five for Windows and Mac

Expiry: None

Chord Dock has released version 1.5 of its chord progression plugin for macOS and Windows. The software presents a chord-track-style workflow that lets users build, visualize, and export progressions, with options to reharmonize and generate note material from the same timeline. It is available in two editions that share one installer: Lite, which runs without a serial key, and Extended, which is unlocked with a license.

Version 1.5 introduces several additions: a Reharmo mode for comparing and applying reharmonization ideas; Arpeggio and Bassline generation from selected sections; section-based editing with Focus Edit mode; meter-aware generation; and drag export for generated note material. These updates expand editing and generation while preserving the timeline-centered workflow.

The core interface centers on a single surface for editing, auditioning, and MIDI export. Progressions are built on a timeline where users can place, move, resize, transpose, and invert chords. Sections such as verse or chorus can be grouped as clips, moved or duplicated as units, and edited in isolation using Focus Edit, which dims non-target areas to reduce errors. Meter changes flow through the workflow so structure and harmonic direction can be shaped together. Progression data can be saved and reused across projects and DAWs, with MIDI available via drag-and-drop.

Lite covers the main drafting and export functions so users can confirm DAW routing and MIDI export before adopting deeper tools. Extended adds reharmonization, generation, and advanced harmonic controls while keeping the same workflow and project portability.

  • Shared features (Lite and Extended):
    • Timeline-based chord editor with resize, move, duplicate, transpose, and invert
    • Sections (Section Clips) and Focus Edit mode
    • Progression export/import and drag-and-drop MIDI export
    • Meter-aware editing and auditioning on a single surface
  • Extended-only features:
    • Reharmo mode to compare candidates and apply changes at chord or progression scope
    • Arpeggio/Bassline generator for a selected section, with detailed parameters and note editing
    • Tensions (9/11/13), slash chords (custom bass), and interactive Circle of Fifths actions
    • Finer snap and length controls for detailed editing
    • User preset save, section recolor, and custom themes

Typical uses include drafting chord progressions on a clear timeline, organizing songs by sections, exporting progression MIDI to any DAW, and generating arpeggios or basslines from selected parts of the progression. MIDI can be routed to any software instrument hosted in the DAW. The plugin focuses on editing and structure and does not perform chord detection from audio or MIDI; users needing automatic recognition can run a dedicated analyzer alongside it.

System requirements specify 64‑bit operating systems. On Windows, the plugin supports Windows 10 or later and VST3-compatible hosts, with some installer packages also including AAX. On macOS, it supports macOS 10.15 or later on Apple Silicon and Intel, with VST3 and AU formats, and some packages also including AAX.

Extended is activated with a serial key via the plugin’s settings menu, which opens a browser for online device approval. A license can be used on up to two devices at the same time, with deactivation available to free a slot. Only first-time activation requires an internet connection; normal use can continue offline. The shared installer serves both editions, so entering the serial is required if Extended features are not visible after installation or updates.

Feature operation notes include section scope requirements: Reharmo and Arpeggio/Bassline controls are available in Extended when a section is selected and its length is within 16 bars. If features appear disabled, users can confirm edition status, section selection, and section length.

Troubleshooting steps for plugin discovery include verifying a successful installation, confirming the expected VST3 or AU file locations, rescanning plugin folders, and restarting the host DAW. If the plugin runs as Lite after an update or OS reinstall, re-entering the serial and completing online activation restores Extended.

Representative hosts include Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Ableton Live, Studio One, Reaper, and other common VST3/AU/AAX environments. Host-specific setup guidance is available, including a chord-track-style workflow inside Ableton Live.

Chord Dock is designed to keep progressions portable across DAWs through timeline editing, clear structure, and MIDI export, with generation and reharmonization tools available in the Extended edition.
