Inear Display has announced the release of Bref, a compact synthesizer plugin that specializes in creating synthetic percussion sounds. The plugin is available for free, or with a pay-what-you-want (PWYW) option, for both Windows and Mac users.
Bref uses a modified version of Ephemere’s synthesis engine to produce a wide range of short, crisp metallic sounds. The plugin is designed with a streamlined and intuitive workflow, making it easy for users to generate and manipulate sounds.
Upon startup, Bref randomly generates a pair of sounds. Users can trigger these sounds with a MIDI note, and the fixed pitch of the sound allows for easy integration into drum racks. The MORPH knob, which blends the two sounds together, can be automated for dynamic results.
Each sound can be regenerated individually by clicking on the A and B buttons. Alternatively, users can regenerate the entire state of the plugin by clicking the dice button at the bottom. While Bref does not have a preset system, the state of the plugin is saved when a project is saved in the host software.
For user convenience, the interface of Bref can be resized by dragging the handle in the bottom right corner. This allows users to adjust the plugin to their preference and workflow.
Whether you are an experienced producer or a beginner, Bref offers a simple and efficient way to create unique percussion sounds. Download it for free or choose your price on the Inear Display website.
