Atomic, the company behind Tonocracy, has announced that it is making the full version of its software freely available to all users. This announcement comes as part of the latest release of Tonocracy (v2.0.0), which is now live. The full version includes all of the SchemAccurate amp models, with the latest additions being the EVan 53 Red and EVan 53 Blue, both based on the EVH 5150III channels.
The decision to make Tonocracy fully free came after the company realized that the limitations of the free version were proving to be a turnoff for many users. Despite positive reviews for many aspects of the software, the complexity and clunkiness of the free version were not in line with the company’s intent.
Originally, the concept behind Tonocracy was to create a hardware-based platform with a 1:1 desktop software companion. However, during the development process, the team realized that most of the elements of the desktop version were needed for the hardware. This led to the decision to release the desktop version first, allowing the company to showcase its technology, gather user feedback, and build awareness for future hardware.
The initial plan was to offer the software for free, but concerns about potentially diminishing its value led to the creation of a Free and Full version. In retrospect, the company believes its original instinct to offer a substantial, free, and user-friendly component was the right one. This decision aligns with Tonocracy’s core ethos of “Tone for and by the People”.
Atomic is currently continuing the development of the Tonocracy platform and is also in the process of developing its next-generation hardware. Details about this, including the timeline, will be shared at a later date.
Users now have unrestricted access to all that Tonocracy has to offer. To start using the full version of Tonocracy for free, simply download the latest release from the company’s website.
