Blanketfort Audio, a renowned name in the music industry, has announced the release of Melloharp, a free instrument plugin. Available for both Windows and Mac platforms, this plugin is a development on one of the company’s first Kontakt instruments that was made public in 2016. The original instrument was based on a unique blend of a nylon string acoustic guitar with a broken, rusted autoharp, with single samples stretched across the entire keyboard. However, the new Melloharp plugin comes with a significant upgrade.
In the creation of this version, the original instrument was multisampled in 3 round robins and 3 dynamic layers, in thirds. The focus on the number three is evident in the design process. The samples were then run through a technics cassette deck and a Sony TCM-40DV, using the ‘dub at double speed octave up, record back at half speed’ technique. This process resulted in three different tonal layers, further reinforcing the theme of threes.
Unlike the SR Drums, where different instruments were made for each layer, all three layers in Melloharp are loaded into the same instrument. This allows users to blend them as per their preference, providing a unique level of customization and flexibility.
Blanketfort Audio’s Melloharp is a free instrument plugin, making it a valuable addition to the toolkit of any music producer or enthusiast. It’s an opportunity to experiment with the unique sounds and tonal layers that this plugin offers. To download the Melloharp plugin, visit the Blanketfort Audio’s official website.
