Disco DSP OPL

The discoDSP OPL is a digital sound synthesis chip that was developed by Yamaha in the mid-1980s. This chip was used in multiple products such as sound cards for PCs, including the Ad Lib card and the early Sound Blaster series.

This product offers an emulated OPL sound chip, providing all features of the OPL2 and some features of the OPL3. The emulator has channels comprised of 2 oscillators each, combined via phase modulation. Each oscillator can produce one of eight waveforms (sine, half sine, absolute sine, quarter sine, alternating sine, camel sine, square, logarithmic sawtooth), and has an ADSR envelope controlling its amplitude.

Features:

• Emulator with channels comprised of 2 oscillators each
• Eight different waveforms produced by each oscillator
• ADSR envelope controlling its amplitude
• Percussion mode supported: Bass drum, Snare, Tom, Cymbal, Hi-hat
• Including SBI files to work as presets for this plugin.

Every instance of this plugin emulates an entire OPL chip. All you have to do is work with two operators: the carrier and the modulator. The plugin also supports SBI files, an instrument file format developed by Creative Labs for the Sound Blaster. These files work as presets for the plugin; just drag and drop them into the plugin window.

The discoDSP OPL also supports a percussion mode, a feature not thoroughly documented in the original Yamaha documentation. This mode includes the Bass drum, Snare, Tom, Cymbal, and Hi-hat.

System Requirements:

• Available for PC, Mac, and Linux in VST/AU/AAX formats
