Glitchmachines Cataract 2

Glitchmachines presents Cataract 2.0, a Segment Multiplexer designed for Electronic Music Production and Experimental Sound Design. This tool is an upgrade from the previous version and is equipped with an arsenal of sample scanners with integrated effects. It also features a global parameter sequencer that enables step sequencing of nearly every parameter of the plugin.

Cataract 2.0 boasts a total overhaul from its predecessor, integrating countless refinements and streamlining the interface. New features include an FX module with a dedicated sequencer. The product houses two dual Sample Scanners, an X-MOD Morpher, Global Parameter Sequencer, Scan Sequencers, Effects Sequencers, Effects & Dynamics Processors, LFOs, a Global Randomizer, a specially curated Factory Sample Bank, and 100 Factory Presets. It allows for the construction of architecturally complex patterns, ranging from nuanced percussive articulations to intricate particle sound effects and generative hyper glitch chaos.

Unlike traditional “sample slicers” that typically deal with markers within a single audio file, Cataract 2.0 is driven by your DAW’s clock and dynamically scans over segments of up to four different audio files. These segments are then distributed in time and manipulated in creative ways by the plugin’s numerous modulation sources, sequencers, and effects. Finally, the plugin allows you to crossfade/morph/mix the two audio signals from the Scanners.

The crossfade knob can be modulated via its dedicated LFO, or sequenced via the Parameter Sequencer or DAW Automation. In a traditional DJ setup, the two sides (A/B) can be considered as decks, and the XMOD module represents the mixer that allows you to crossfade between the signals coming from the two decks.
