About Pulsar Audio Mu
Pulsar Audio’s Mu Compressor is the most faithful emulation of a modern yet legendary tube compressor/limiter designed specifically for mixing and mastering. It offers exceptional compression transparency, effortlessly achieving extreme gain reduction. This variable-bias tube compressor is renowned for its ability to add cohesion or “glue” to buses, whole mixes, and masters. With its unique Topology Preservation Technology, Mu sounds identical to the original hardware in every production context, even boasting improvements like an increased signal-to-noise ratio.
Pulsar Mu operates in either Left/Right or Mid/Side modes, lending it the flexibility necessary not only for mixing and mastering but also for tracking. The compressor can be used for levelling, limiting, or simply for adding a touch of analog warmth courtesy of its emulated tube signal path. The software emulates the accurate SIFAM metering of the original unit while providing a more modern visualization mode for fine-tuning compression settings.
Features:
- Topology Preserving Technology: Perfect emulation of the original device, including the saturation of the magnetic flux in the transformers, the precise response of the tubes, and the effect of tiny calibration defects.
- External Sidechain: Allows you to define an external sidechain input, opening a wide range of applications such as ducking, de-essing, filtering the sidechain signal with your favorite EQ, or applying dynamic processing.
- Mid-Side Processing: Comes with built-in optional M/S encoding and decoding, enabling you to process sounds panned to the center and those panned to the sides separately with different settings.
- Look Ahead, Look Behind: Shift the timing of the gain reduction signal with respect to the input, allowing the compressor to react to transients before they happen, or even after they happen.
- Flexible Sidechain Equalizer: Offers a simple yet efficient equalization section, allowing precise adjustment of the compressor’s response to bass, midrange, and treble with only four knobs.
- Low CPU Consumption: Despite the complex algorithm inside, the Pulsar team optimized the processing to consume very few system resources.
