About Soundtoys Decapitator
Soundtoys Decapitator is a high-quality analog saturation modeler that brings the unique essence of analog hardware right into your digital studio. It has been praised by top mix engineers for its ability to deliver everything from subtle to extreme hardware-modelled saturation to tracks and instruments in your mixes.
Decapitator provides five different analog saturation models to choose from, allowing users to add character to all kinds of tracks and instruments. It also includes a modelled tone control to shape the saturated sound and a mix control for blending in dry signal for parallel processing, eliminating the need for complex routing and sub-mixes. This plugin captures the feel of analog gear, reacting to a track and following the dynamics of an instrument for a truly authentic analog sound.
In the creation of Decapitator, Soundtoys meticulously studied and analyzed both vintage and modern hardware, including consoles, preamps, input channels, EQs, compressors, and studio distortion units. From subtly enhancing tracks to pushing them over the edge with the Punish button for extra gain, Decapitator delivers a dynamic and responsive analog sound in a reliable digital format.
Decapitator is not only capable of producing wonderfully subtle sounds. Soundtoys also incorporated the Punish button for those times when subtlety just won’t cut it. The Punish button kicks in an extra chunk of gain to push the plugin over the edge, reacting just like great analog gear. This feature allows you to produce unique qualities that only come from driving high-end studio gear to its limits.
