About Soundtoys Little Plate
Experience the lush sound of plate reverb with Soundtoys Little Plate. This unique product is inspired by the original EMT 140 plate reverb, and we’ve captured the warm, rich, and spacious sound of this studio classic. We’ve added some modern twists, so you can take Little Plate to spaces the original hardware could only dream of.
The control is simple, but the possibilities are infinite. We’ve pushed the iconic 140 sound even further. Unlike the original reverb, which had a maximum of five seconds of reverberation time, we’ve greatly extended that number. With Decay Time set to infinity, Little Plate’s reverb tails will never fade away.
You don’t have to worry about clutter with Little Plate. It has a built-in Low Cut filter to help keep your reverb and your mixes clean. This feature lets you easily tame boomy bass frequencies that can sometimes get out of control in reverb.
Our Space Modulator feature allows you to introduce slight modulation into the reverb tail for a smoother and thicker sound, particularly at long decay times on pitched instruments like keys, guitar, and voice.
We’ve meticulously crafted Little Plate to capture the warm, rich, spacious, and slightly dark essence of plate reverb, going beyond what was possible with the original hardware. The EMT 140, introduced in 1957, was known for its dense and smooth reverberation, a sound that’s still sought after today. Little Plate is a compact and accessible way to bring that legendary sound to your music.
