About Tracktion Hyperion
Tracktion Hyperion is a robust, flexible synthesizer designed with an accessible modular patching approach. It offers efficient processing that allows up to 10 layers of complex sound patches to be affected simultaneously by macro controls. Each layer can send modulation data and aux buss audio between each other, providing an unlimited sound design playground.
This Synth stands out for its ability to quickly layer and split polyphonic modular patches using a wide variety of synthesis methods. It provides individual chord, arpeggiation, and bus effects per layer which serves as a constant source of musical inspiration for music producers across all genres. Its multi-layer sound designs can be saved and recalled as “combi” patches while its patch browsing offers categories and author filters for fast retrieval of sounds.
Hyperion also offers surgical control with per-layer note handling options enabling layer-specific polyphony, pitch bend range, portamento speed, pitch randomization and drift depths, custom pitch slope (positive or negative), mono-phonic re-trig option, and voice trigger options. It allows for an unlimited number of nodes per layer and up to 16 mixable modulation sources per target modulation input pin.
Features:
- Modular Patching: 16 Layers of 32 voice polyphonic modular patching with individual chord effects.
- Inter-Layer Modulations: Ability to send CC and macro controls data, as well as FX bus audio between layers.
- Multiple Synthesis Types: Includes classic mono and stereo “digital” and “virtual analog” oscillators, 4 operator FM with 12 algorithms & multi-operator output mix, wave-sequencing oscillators with up to 32 steps, wave-sequenced 4 operator FM, plucked string model, physical modeling flute oscillator, and sample playback with looping.
- Inspirational Sound Processing: Offers various per voice processing options including multiple filter types and Distortion, Tube resonator, Ring modulator, Bit-Crusher.
- True-stereo buss effects: Includes 3 Reverb types, Chorus, Flanger, Tremolo, Stereo filter, Distortion/EQ’d-distortion, 3 Band EQ, Tube Resonator, Ring mod, Bit-Crusher, Pitch shifter, Stereo echo, Granulator, and FX bus send and receive.
- Control and data generation options: Features ADSR with pre-delay and multiple triggering options, looping envelope, LFOs with one-shot mode, beat sync and start phase control.
- MIDI Data/Note Sending and Receiving: On selected channels, also ability to send control data from one layer to another on “internal MIDI” channels.
In terms of system requirements, Hyperion is compatible with macOS 10.11 or later (64-bit) with VST3 / AU support and Windows 8, 10, and 11 (64-bit) with VST3 support.
Hyperion Synth was designed and coded by Paul Carter, also known as Wavesequencer, who has a long history of work in the semiconductor industry. His passion for music and sound synthesis dates back to learning to play piano as a child and has been inspired by various synth-pop bands and electronic music artists from the 80s.
