U-he has launched a free public beta of its Zebralette 3 synthesizer plugin, available for Windows, Mac, and Linux users. This new release is a significant step towards the next phase of Zebra’s evolution, featuring a single Zebra oscillator with added modulation sources and effects, all housed in a modern, fully vectorized GUI.
The oscillator module is a standalone world, with a spline-based wavetable editor at its heart. It can hold up to sixteen wavetable snapshots with a variety of morphing options, two oscillator effect slots with over twenty effects to choose from, and an audio engine that can switch between wavetable and additive synthesis.
Despite having only one oscillator, Zebralette 3 offers a lot to explore. The powerful spline editor allows users to shape waveforms and modulation signals with ease using many versatile tools. Users can create a waveform in seconds with the stamp tools or spend hours meticulously shaping the wavetable snapshots and their morphing behaviour. The wavetable can represent the actual oscillator waveform or be used to shape the oscillator’s spectrum.
Users can switch between regular wavetable or additive synthesis mode and manipulate individual harmonics in additive mode. The sound can be further shaped and modulated through the two oscillator effect slots, offering a mix of Zebra 2’s most used effects and a variety of new creations. Users can also export their wavetable (minus modulation and oscillator effects) to use it in their favourite wavetable synthesizer.
Zebralette 3 is completely free, making it an accessible tool for music producers and enthusiasts alike.
