Cymatics has recently released its new plugin, Deja Vu, available for free for both Windows and Mac users. Deja Vu is a time-warping plugin, designed to transform the vibe or feeling of any sound by adjusting its time-stretching and pitch-shifting in a way that is musically appealing.
This distinctive “slowed down” atmospheric effect, which Deja Vu can produce, is a common feature in many modern pop and hip-hop tracks. It provides users with complete control over the timing and rhythm of the audio, making it a favourite among the Cymatics team.
The plugin includes nine unique time signatures to shift through, along with customizable parameters that allow users to modify the outcome in real-time. However, it’s worth noting that Deja Vu is only compatible with 64-bit systems.
Deja Vu was developed to serve as an FX engine for inspiration, offering a wide range of creative possibilities. It can be used on melodies to create a dreamy, atmospheric vibe, or on drums, vocals, or even complete tracks to create switch-ups. The plugin is capable of significantly altering the feeling and tonal DNA of any sound it processes. It is recommended for use on melody loops, vocals, guitars, song intros, switch-ups, and even full songs.
Deja Vu operates by time-stretching audio by 1.5x, 2x, or 4x speed, as set by the Mode buttons. This effect is similar to what you would hear if you slowed down the playback speed of an old tape machine. By using the Looping feature, users can determine when they want the plugin to loop the effect, allowing Deja Vu to remain on time with the rest of the layers, even when used on any single layer of a song.
Given the versatility and creative potential of the Deja Vu plugin, it is a valuable addition to any music producer’s toolkit. And with no expiry date for this deal, there is no rush to download it. However, considering its potential benefits, it might be worth exploring sooner rather than later.
